Black Thought

Name: Tariq Trotter
Occupation: Vocalist
Age: Unknown
From: Philadelphia

Black Thought is the lead vocalist of Philadelphia hip-hoppers The Roots. Widely renound for their unique live performances, The Roots have been making music since the late '80s, and are still going strong to this day. With subverse experimentation both on stage and in the studio, the Roots have proved over the years that they truely are one of a kind. The band released their debut album, "Organix" in 1993 - whilst causing a stir in the music industry at the same time, the band had offers from several record companies before signing to DGC records late in the year.

The band disappeared off the scene for a while back in the mid-'90s after their third album, "Illadelph Halflife" failed to impress critics and music lovers alike. Thier fourth album, "Things Fall Apart" brought the band back onto the music scene with a blast, and to date, is critically renound as their must uniquely creative effort yet. The band recently released their latest album "The Tipping Point" and are scheduled to go straight back into the studio in early 2005 to record the follow-up.
