Amp Live is one half of the alternative hip-hop due known as ZION I. Amp Live grew up in San Antonia, Texas and from an early age started learning instruments such as the drums and piano. In 1991 he met up with Zion and three other college students to form the band "Metafour", who later signed to "Tommy Boy" records. Later that year, the group disbanded and left the label. Amp and Zion then went on to form Zion I and penned a deal with a local indie label called "Nu Gruv Alliance."

Amp produced the duo's first critically acclaimed album "Mind Over Matter", whcih spawned the underground hit "Inner Light." ZION I are currently in the studio producing the follow up to the album, titled "Deep Water Slang."
